Never Forget: An Architecture of Memory

Artist: Nicole Del Medico
Never Forget: An Architecture of Memory is a virtual reality (VR) experience that serves as a digital form of a requiem or “sonic memorial” that “reskins” the player as an archeologist of memories that belong to ninety-three-year-old Anna van Vliet. Would the player have done the same thing and taken the same chances as Anna if they were in her position? Would the participant be active and have the agency to fight against inequality as she did, or would they be passive and just witness the atrocities before them?

3VR/THREE²' x '3P2: VR

Artist: FLOAT
A meditation on organic and inorganic structures, flickering forms dissolve into lush amorphous glitches and textural, fluid landscapes. Through a site-specific VR journey, these hybridizations become a portal for new cognitive experiences to take place. Abstractions dissolve into acute elements— botanical planets— melding into complex formations as we navigate through visual and aural space. Entering pixelated orbs, we glide through 3D to uncover a surreal hyperreal— a realm just beyond the 'natural' state.

MODERATORS

Ross Miller
Co-founder and Managing Editor, The Verge
Ross Miller is a cofounder and Managing Editor of The Verge. For over a decade, he has covered technology, gaming, entertainment, and all aspects of modern storytelling. He has followed virtual reality since early 2012 when John Carmack showed him a very early Oculus Rift prototype. He honestly didn't get it at the time. He's also really bad at writing bios, especially in the third person.

Adi Robertson
Senior Reporter, The Verge
Adi Robertson is a Senior Reporter for The Verge. She has followed virtual reality since the original Oculus Rift’s unveiling in 2012, and her work includes a definitive oral history of VR, along with coverage of the medium’s science, technology, and culture. Besides VR, she also writes about video games, biohacking, science fiction, policy, and gender.
